Microblading FAQs

How long does the appointment take?

Your initial session will take between 1-2 hours.

Is microblading right for me?

Everyone's skin is different so results will vary. If you have extremely oily skin, the hair strokes will not work as well for you. With oily skin the skin is constantly resurfacing itself and will do the same with the pigment added as well - causing a slightly softer look (not as crisp).

If you have little to no hair your microblading will appear to look more 2D than clients with naturally fuller brows.

If you are anemic and an easy bleeder your pigment may fade faster and bleeding may occur during and after the procedure.

If you are pregnant or nursing, you cannot get microblading done.

IMPORTANT! If you have had your eyebrows previously tattooed by a different artist, we will need to do a consultation before booking.

How old do I need to be to get tattooed?

You must be 18 years old to get any tattoos, including microblading.

How long will the miroblading last?

Microblading is semipermanent. Results vary from person to person. Typically microblading will last between 18-24 months. I recommend coming in every 9-12 months for annual refresher.  Lighter colors will fade quicker, needing a touchup sooner. Acne products, anti aging products, exfoliating products, and sun exposure will fade your Microblading quicker.

What should I do to prepare for my appointment?

Let your brows grow - we want as much hair as possible! Do not pluck, wax, sugar or thread 4 weeks in advance. If you plan on getting botox be sure to get it done at least 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after your appointment. DO NOT take any blood thinners (medications, alcohol, caffeine) 48 hours prior to your appointment.  This will cause SIGNIFICANT pigment loss, more than what is expected which might cause you to need an extra touchup.  This is an investment in yourself, don't sabotage it before it begins!  You cannot get microblading done if you are sick or have an infection, please email theprettysisterstudio@gmail.com to reschedule and Hayley will get you in ASAP.  If you show up sick to the appointment, you will be turned away and loose your deposit.  Lets be respectful of each other!

If you have been on prescription acutane in the past you must wait at least 1 year before considering microblading.

**Be aware you might be a little freaked out for the first 1-2 weeks after the appointment, so schedule accordingly (big events, outings, or trips are not the best idea right after your appointment).

Can I exercise after getting microblading done?

I recommend you wait 2-3 days until you go back to working out.  Avoid sweating for about a week after the appointment.  Sweat contains salt which can lighten the brows quicker during the healing process, as well as cause infection.  When you do go back to working out, you MUST wash the brows immediately after.

How long will they take to heal?

Your microblading will appear 30%-40% DARKER for the first 3-5 days. They will start to soften significantly and may become dry and flaky - similar to a peeling sunburn. Do not use eyebrow pencil or any other type of makeup directly on your brows for the first 1-2 weeks. Do not allow bangs, hats, sunglasses, etc to touchup your eyebrows for the first 1-2 weeks.  Do not submerge your brows in water (pool, oceans, jacuzzi). Showering is fine, do your best to only get them wet while cleaning morning and night. You will be provided with an aftercare cream.

AFTERCARE IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! Be sure to schedule your appointment accordingly.

**Read the AFTERCARE section on this website for full information on aftercare.
